Kush-Hara Farm is an 85-acre farm located in Virginia's central piedmont between Orange and Culpeper.
Because our property is heavily forested, last fall we became members of two foundations -- The American Chestnut Foundation and the American Chestnut Cooperators’ Foundation -- that are working to restore the American Chestnut to its former eminence in eastern hardwood forests. We cleared about six acres of old, lanky Virginia Pines and replanted the area with 50 American Chestnut trees. We have another 50 chestnut seeds sprouting in pots, and more are on the way.
We’re currently building a studio and workshop, and hope to offer educational, and arts and crafts classes soon.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I have not lived.”

Looking for information about Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats?
In 2008, we sold our Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat herd to our friends and neighbors Barbara and Doug Johnson of Timberwood Farm. Now, from the comfort of our living room and deck, we enjoy seeing the Johnson’s goats and sheep frolic in the fields beyond our pond!
